EMI Shield Engineering Resources

Use practical EMI shielding project checklists for structures, drawings, material selection, samples, quality records and assembly packaging.

Choose the question you need to resolve next

The most useful information depends on the project stage. Early design discussions focus on structure and available space. Drawing review sets dimensions and datums. Sampling needs a validation scope, while order preparation brings materials, inspection and packaging into one approved input set.

These resources help organize engineering discussions. The project drawing, sample approval and agreed verification methods remain the basis of the actual design. Product photographs illustrate existing structures without defining unlisted specifications.

Choosing a Structure

Define access, PCB space, attachment and circuit areas before reviewing single-body shields, removable lids, multiple cavities or clips.

Preparing the Drawing

Bring the part drawing, mating relationships and critical datums together. Mark fixed requirements, reviewable options and the current revision.

Planning Samples and Production

Define the sample checks separately from volume inputs, including material, finish, records, assembly supply and quantity.

Keep structure, material and application terms distinct

A two-piece shield describes a frame-and-lid structure. Stainless steel describes a material direction. A smartphone shield describes an application. These terms answer different questions; they should be combined into a clear part definition rather than treated as interchangeable specifications.

BB means baseband and identifies the baseband circuit area covered by a shield. RF identifies a radio-frequency circuit area. Both names still need a structural definition, space envelope, material and attachment method. The application name does not establish a particular fit or performance result.

Make the next revision easy to review

When the height, opening, partition, attachment feature, material or finish changes, record the revision and affected mating items. Separate requirements that remain approved from those needing new assessment. This prevents different drawings or email threads from becoming competing production inputs.

Samples are charged. The confirmed sample plan may use standard samples in 3–5 days, expedited sampling in 48 hours, or tooling and sample production in 7–10 days. Volume production and delivery are reviewed separately. Use the contact form to describe the current revision and the question you need resolved.
